DA makes appointments

THE DA and its allies' irrational crusade to remove the speaker of parliament by means of a vote of no confidence was driven by its ridiculous belief in its own hype and not by the need to ensure the appointment of competent persons in strategic positions. The DA rallies about the need for the democratically elected speaker of parliament to be removed as a means to ensure fairness during the functions of parliament.

I want the readers please to consider that the DA controls the Western Cape Legislature and the executive council. Speaker Sharna Fernandez was hand-picked and anointed, sorry appointed, by premier Helen Zille.

So, the speaker constitutionally mandated to hold the premier and executive accountable through oversight, is anointed, oops, appointed by the premier herself. Fernandez has no legislative experience compared to Baleka Mbete, who was previous speaker of parliament, no political office experience and minimal political experience.

So much for the fit for purpose doctrine endlessly send forth in the media and social network by the DA and its cohorts.

DA supporters are selective in their policy positions and their anointments, oops, appointments of office bearers do not reflect either merit or fit for the purpose. It rather is based on the dictatorial premise of Helen Zille's whims such as the anointment, sorry, appointments of Lindiwe Mazibuko, Mmusi Maimane and Mamphela Ramphele, and that their defence of the doctrine of fit for purpose cannot hold muster.
