Investigate electricity tariffs

THERE is a saying on social networks at the moment: "as a child I was afraid of the dark, now as an adult I am afraid of the light!" That seems to be quite common, reading the SMSes regarding the high cost of electricity.

Can there not be a survey to find out how many units the average household uses per month (family of at least four)? If the average family is using 900 units per month, then the step of 350 units is way too low, in fact it is bordering on highway robbery.

We should be charged a flat rate up until at least 750 units and then increase the tariff.

If Eskom had a R7-billion profit this last year, why are we paying so much for electricity?
