Keep to collection times

ACCORDING to the municipality's instructions, the refuse in my street has to be placed on the verge by 6am every Monday. For several years it was collected during the course of the morning, occasionally in the afternoon.

Since then collection times have been random, collection often taking place at night. Occasionally it would be collected the next day (Tuesday).

For three successive weeks it has been collected on the Tuesday afternoon.

These delays allow even more time for the bags to be torn, and the contents scattered, by vagrants, dogs, and sometimes even pigs and cattle.

It appears to be the municipality's policy that any refuse outside the bags is simply left untouched and the wind distributes it further. The only way it will be picked up is by the long-suffering residents themselves.

Would spokesman Roland Williams care to explain the fairness of this situation?
