Bay relocation wounds tender

IF the "land grab revolution" becomes a reality the first homes that the dispossessed in our city may feel justified in reclaiming would be houses constructed in South End and Fairview. The wounds inflicted on past residents of these areas by the Group Areas Act of the previous regime are still very tender.

Fairview and South End were thriving cosmopolitan centres that were destroyed by apartheid bulldozers, and many families were broken and divided by the social engineering policies of separate development. The chickens will come home to roost.

Folks living on land that is under dispute have every good reason to feel vulnerable and concerned. To be forewarned is to be prudently forearmed.
