Land row to be reported

WITH reference to the article, "Land ownership row halts activities" (May 30), a beautiful child protection awareness programme held at Parsonsvlei informal settlement at Kabega was spoilt by the so-called private land owner who requested me, as a PR councillor deployed to service that community of Ward 12, to ask for permission from Clifford Oosthuizen (Westbrook representative) before talking to the people and before coming to the area.

The matter about the land is at the Constitutional Court. He and his security staff tried to stop me from seeing those neglected people.

It is not constitutional. They stole the land from the poor even if they paid money, but the fact remains that community has been there since before 2007 when they bought the land, and they must be tolerant and wait for the Constitutional Court to make a ruling.

I will report this to the speaker of council and the city manager. They must intervene in this matter with these Capetonians.

I will not back off, I am here to service the poor.
