Beach walkway needs fixing

I WOULD like to bring the Summerstrand walkway to the attention of the NMM Municipality. It is in dire need of maintenance work, as you can see from this photograph (left). The slats need fixing, the fence is coming apart in many places and the weeds are getting out of control.

While walking one has to watch your step as the nails have rusted and many of the boards are lifting.

This is a very popular walk, especially over the weekends, and has made us all proud of Port Elizabeth. One can walk all the way to the Humewood Golf Club and enjoy the sea view, also the aloes are all in bud and will soon be a beautiful show.

We are grateful to the municipality for building it in the first place, but now it just needs to be maintained before it gets beyond repair and we lose this asset.
