WATER TASTES LIKE BLEACH

ON Saturday I poured a glass of water and it tasted like bleach, within an hour I was vomiting and had severe stomach cramps which are still ongoing. What is in our water? Where can one send a sample for an independent test for toxicity? Also within an short while the glass I used turned totally opaque!

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

WELL done, Dr Patrick Maduna! At least someone understands that when basics such as washing the hospital’s windows are not done, important things such as saving peoples lives will also not be done. Good luck!

BRENDA

LIVINGSTONE Hospital should be closed and all those in managerial positions fired. Is your service the best you can offer to the suffering majority? Those lazy employees should also hang their heads in shame.

WHERE DOES ‘ANCESTOR’ TALE COME FROM?

THE story that black girls dump their babies because of fear of ancestral wrath is questionable. I am more than 50 years old and neither I nor anyone I know has ever heard of that “superstition” before. Where was the research done?

FEZI D

THE research was conducted among young women in Alexandra, Soweto and Tembisa by Dee Blackie, a consultant for the National Adoption Coalition. We can provide you with a copy if you send us your e-mail address. – The editor

DA PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS

EUSEBIUS McKaiser, I am a white female DA voter and stand 100% behind Mmusi Maimane and think he is the right person for the job. If he does not get chosen then I will not vote for the DA again. I am glad Lindiwe Mazibuko is going overseas as she would have been the wrong person for the job.

DA VOTER

HELEN Zille is both shortsighted and arrogant when she says Lindiwe Mazibuko is nothing without her. This kind of statement does not help the DA cause.

DA MEMBER, PE

THE DA’s frivolous motion in parliament and the exposure of DA internal “Boer v Brit” and white v black toxic infighting confirms the DA is the National Party in disguise. Black supporters should take note.

DR GALLOWAY

NEED CHANGE OF PRESIDENT

IF only they had kept the cabinet and merely changed the president, we could all have joined in the jubilations.

ED KIRWIN

POLITICIANS and diapers should be changed often and for the same reason.

NEW cabinet: so which portfolio did Schabir Shaik get – sport or health?

WHAT ABOUT THE KABUSO REPORT?

OK, the Pikoli report is finally going to be acted upon. Has our mayor forgotten the Kabuso report? I am interested in the AMR metering section which in my opinion was “wasteful and fruitless expenditure”.

THANK YOU, HOME AFFAIRS

WE thank the Department of Home Affairs for its operation on Saturday, checking on foreigners’ work permits. It should do that in all restaurants of PE. The bosses are employing these people of other countries as their cheap labour. South Africans are unemployed because of this.

CYCLISTS MUST TAKE CARE OF OWN SAFETY

IF cyclists are going to ride abreast on busy Buffelsfontein Road, then expect disaster. Passing cars cannot keep 1.5m away on a narrow road. Take care please.

DRIVEN TO NEAR SUICIDE BY UNEMPLOYMENT

I KNOW you may not publish my SMS. I nearly killed myself last week because I’m not working. All my family of 20 people depend on me and I’m not working. I have a marketing N4 and Grade 12. Please help me to find a job. Our water and electricity have been cut off because of arrears.

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

WOW! DR Galloway – ward committee member! Foot in on the gravy train! Congratulations!

JAX

ATHEIST, my knowledge of the Bible is not as extensive as yours, but was Jesus not carried by a donkey?

THE GRIM REAPER

CITIZEN, I agree the DA should rather focus on crime and corruption. Therefore Nkandla is exactly the right place to start!

BARRY

I JUST love the comment by Citizen to drop Nkandla, and focus on crime and corruption. I thought that is what Nkandla was about.

TONY

ALSO a Sadtu member, you must be seen to be working actively for the union as well as kissing up to someone in order to get a promotion post. I’ve 29 years’ experience, but keep being ignored when applying. Almost like BEE, yet I am also coloured.

 PROBLEMS NOT SOLVED

ANC voters, all problems that were and still are and still will be. Suck it up.

SUSAN

SCHOOL STRUGGLING

THE ink is not even dry on our votes for the ANC! The ANC government makes apartheid the best education a poor black child ever had in this country. You guys at the ANC have no shame. June exams are around the corner and pupils – who I am sure voted for you – are pushed aside now that their votes and those of their parents have put you back on top. You are deliberately throwing the future of SA down the drain. You want to keep the masses ignorant so that you can feed on them during election time as you will sing your good story. Sies.

TS

JUST look at that dilapidated and very dangerous school. But yet they still voted the same people in.

OBSERVER

THE parents and teacher of Solomon Mahlangu have more than a right to be upset and march in protest to the Department of Education – and we support their effort. But Sadtu? Anyway it’s par for the course.
