THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN WITH THEIR VOTES

THE votes are counted. The majority votes went to the ANC. The supporters received a T-shirt in exchange for their vote but little do they realise that is all they will receive from their re-elected government. Hold back the tears for the next five years and do not express dissatisfaction until the next election, if we can afford one.

MIKE LANGFORD, WESTERING, PORT ELIZABETH

SOUTH Africa, you have dug your own grave. Please no more complaints. May you continue to suffer. You voted accordingly. Stop knocking on our doors over weekends. Enough. No more feeling sorry for you.

CONGRATULATIONS to the disgruntled toyi-toyiing masses of the ANC. You have just voted and given the ruling party another blank cheque for the next five years to loot and plunder the country’s coffers. Be happy living in squalor with no services for the next five years, to be repeated for a further term after that. Well done. But please do not protest, destroy existing structures and burn items in front of national TV cameras. You only have yourselves to blame for believing the same old “good story”.

DES STARK, UITENHAGE

NO more sympathy for services delivery protesters. They get what they voted for.

SB

THE SA elections are a personality contest, because most of the voters have no perception of parties’ policies and only draw a cross next to a face they like!

EP

AS part of its future strategy, the DA should persuade the poor and rural voter that a vote for the DA won’t mean the end of the social grant system.

N OMAR

DA, we’re proud of your great results. You proved to the corrupt ANC and EFF you’re a force to be reckoned with. The Western Cape belongs to the DA.

ROGER, SCHAUDERVILLE, PORT ELIZABETH

I’M quite impressed and happy about the ANC’s performance in these elections. Thanks to the volunteers and the people who voted. They must just get ready for 2016, we are done with this year. Hopefully I will see them there then.

MZI TYALI

I WANT to make an urgent appeal to the ANC leadership, especially in the NM Bay region, quickly to go back to their drawing board and look where it went wrong before it’s too late.

NDODOMZI KIBI, ETINARA

THE EFF vote based on unrealistic policy promises shows how uneducated the South African voter is, in a political sense. This can be seen as the beginning of the end of our country.

DAVE, BATHURST

NOW the dust has settled, the fat lady has sung and the EFF has not quite acquired the 10% I so confidentially predicted. As the man in the red beret says, they have arrived and are here to stay. This may well be the best thing that could happen to SA. In the elections to come their support will increase to the detriment of the ANC, until we reach a point where the country will have a choice: responsible government or the loony tunes party. By then the four million new black middle class will have a choice to make and that’s a no brainer. So here’s to an exciting future with a DA led by Trevor Manuel, to just plain governance and none of the shenanigans that mar the present one. Come on people, 46 years of the Nats, 20 years of this, it’s time we had a break!

JOHN

COMMISERATIONS to the DA in the Eastern Cape especially to the coloureds in PE.

ELECTION NOT FREE AND FAIR

DON’T believe voting is a true reflection of what South Africa wants. I feel everything is rigged as always. Oh what do we call it? Oh yes, corruption.

L DE BRUIN

FAIR election, my foot. Why no word about Mamphela Ramphele allegedly catching IEC member with an armload of election papers already marked ANC?

OLD SA FLAG T-SHIRT CAUSES A STIR

I DO not know why there’s a huge noise about Peter Davey showing off the old SA flag at the polls. They want to say it represents pain and suffering of the majority. Then the new SA flag represents corruption and fraud as that is what had transpired over the last 20 years. The old SA flag is our Afrikaner heritage, just as the ANC is the majority’s heritage. So those who are offended, please get over it!

EP

PETER Davey, your “heritage” has disappeared along with your negative thoughts and actions. With people like you in our country no wonder we still have a racist issue.

START WITH THE STREET LIGHT

CHIPPA Ngcolomba, you state, “The ANC will work hard in the coming two years”. So please Chippa, start with my faulty street light in South End reported on March 6 and still waiting to be repaired after several follow-up phone calls.

LOLLY

ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF

I HEARD some Christians had a teaching in their church not to vote. Seriously? All that means is that you only care about yourself and don’t know Jesus at all as the one who cares more about others than he cares about Himself. This is real life people! Not lalaland.

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

CAN Roland Williams drive around Port Elizabeth and see what the ANC has achieved. This must surely look like Syria. Viva ANC viva Roland “Gantry” Williams.

BOYSIE, THE BOY FROM THE SUBURBS

ROLAND Williams, you put your foot in it again. The DA would have done all the ANC had done and even better because there would have been more money available. Money wasted by the ANC due to corruption, stealing and wasteful expenditure.

SA CITIZEN

IN response to Myckey’s SMS, I specifically look for Zimbabwean women when employing. They are well spoken, respectful, hard working, display initiative, can work without supervision, are honest, always display a friendly disposition, never sulk and appreciate their jobs!
