REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

“WHERE to get a phone book”: Linton Grange post office has a pile stacked by the exit door.

D BATH

ROSS, I have had the same runaround regarding phone books. Went to Telkom at Walmer Park and was told that they haven’t received any yet. Find that very strange.

STELLA

L TROON, you must get your facts straight. The money used in Helenvale is not from the SA government. It is sponsored from 10000 miles away by the German government. Don’t try to score cheap political points. SA spends on Nkandla. Leave Helenvale to councillor Nico du Plessis. He is doing a good job so far.

RESIDENT

DR Galloway, your ongoing nauseating attacks on whites and non-ANC supporters beg the questions: who are you? What’s your claim to fame that you can continuously send your drivel to the press? Did you do military service where we 17- and 18-year-olds back then fought against communism, protecting all inhabitants of our country? How many people do you directly give an income to? Finally, as per your chirp on Tuesday, how or with whom did you celebrate Freedom Day?

GARRY STONE

NO, DR Galloway, the whites’ mindset with regard to government programmes on national holidays is not a tragedy. What is, however, is your refusal to have your cataracts removed.

JOHANN NEL, UITENHAGE

WAG, you missed the point. Atheist did not blame God. Atheist merely said the “tragic situation” pointed to a lack of evidence that God existed!

JW

ATHEIST, you are confusing God with Lucifer. Would God condescend and take on human form in the person of Jesus Christ and then murder the human race? Wise up, man.

CIRCULAR Drive hospital a state hospital? What twaddle! Beautiful upgrades and extensions have been done on the existing hospitals, only to be ruined by mismanagement. People who live in the Circular Drive area should all have medical aid!

ANC THWARTS NKANDLA PROBE

IT is indeed a black day in our country’s history that the ANC has seen fit (as was expected) to stop further process into the Nkandla debacle. Is this its idea of democracy and transparency that is always spoken about by it? As things now stand we are headed for a dictatorship (as with Zimbabwe) where the people are expected to accept such blatant wrongdoing by public servants without being answerable for their actions. A change in the leadership is now overdue before this country is totally ruined.

ROBERT

TYPICAL of the ANC dictatorship to cancel the investigation into “Jacob’s theft” of public funds!

JACOB Zuma’s residence is cheap at the price. Think what Buck House and the rest of the palaces cost the British taxpayer.

CHANGE NAME TO PEBCO THREE AIRPORT

I MAKE an urgent appeal to Oom Ben Fihla not to rename our airport the Hashe Airport but the Pebco Three, instead of one person because they were all kidnapped at that airport. Please Oom Ben, do the right thing. Viva Pebco Three viva.

NEED NIPPERS CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS

WHICH club won the Nippers Lifesaving Champs? There were 22 clubs and 700 contestants, but only two pictures and no reports in The Herald. Disappointing!

DA

THE Nippers Championships was won by Durban Surf. This result was carried in Tuesday’s paper along with other results. – The Herald deputy sports editor George Byron

TOO MANY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

FROM March 21 to May 7, 34 working days, there have been six public holidays! Great for the economy! How many billions of rand has that cost South Africa?

WELL DONE ON AWARD SHORTLISTING

“THE Herald staff shortlisted for awards” (April 29) refers! What bravery, what innovation and above all what journalistic excellence! The reports show what a sick society we have become. Quo vadis?

EP KINGS’ PLAYERS LEAVING

EP Kings, we are very disappointed to hear two of your good players are leaving. Please ensure no more good players leave the Kings. When are you signing the new players you mentioned in The Herald some time ago and hopefully on a two- to five-year contract?

INFORMATION NEEDED ON FLATS

ALAMEIN Court and Normandy Court are rented out to ex-servicemen at very reasonable prices. What are the criteria and where can one find out more information?

THANKS FOR ALL COMPANY DOES

“VW for Good”: a sincere thank you to Volkswagen for all that it does for the community. All residents of this metropole should be driving Volkswagens! If the mining companies up north took a leaf out of Volkswagen’s book and cared for their communities there would be no strike upheavals!

LAUNCH WILL BE ANC RALLY

SO the ANC government is launching the Safe Schools Initiative tomorrow. This is one of many launches in recent weeks that are merely ANC rallies. However all ANC government launches are simply launches. Once it launches a project, it remains forever in space and far removed from the people. It eventually has a crash landing after the project funds have been milked away!

WHAT KIND OF STATE IS ISRAEL NOW?

US Secretary of State John Kerry says Israel risks becoming an apartheid state. Then what is it now?

DUBIOUS DECISIONS IN JOUBERT MATCHES

IN almost all Craig Joubert’s matches there is a decision which changes the pattern of the match totally. When that mistake occurs he will not refer the decision to the TV referee.
