Identification directive confuses pensioners

THOSE on state pensions, especially those of us of 70 and older, are finding it extremely difficult to understand why we are being shunted about with regard to payment. We are now advised to have a voice identification or a fingerprint check before payment is effected.

We are given phone numbers to call for voice verification. How many people will use this line and surely there is going to be chaos in doing so?

What stores do fingerprint verification as at times the stores do not have cash in their tills to effect payment?

We are dealing with senior citizens, many of whom are sick and disabled. This matter needs more clarity.

Over the past few months people have been shunted from pillar to post, only to be told the system was on hold. Now we are given short notice of yet another change.

Please can The Herald investigate so we can have more detail?
