OSCAR PISTORIUS TRIAL DRAGS ON
ONLY one witness in two days! How long will this trial run with all this dissection? Only one person knows exactly what he did that night.
ANYONE who can make a noise like a gun by hitting a cricket bat on a wooden door should have been at Newlands this week. The Proteas needed you!
ALL FOR THE TRUTH
VIEW Oscar Pistorius’s trial on Sky. Most professional comment and interviews. Our lot are a bunch of amateurs.
BARRY Roux is so sarcastic. That’s not clever. He’s making an idiot of himself! Not impressed.
DEBBIE, you are very unfair on advocate Barry Roux. Whatever the final outcome, Roux is an outstanding advocate. His cross-examination of Michelle Burger was very good. Burger impressed me, but is that enough to hurt the defence? Remember the defence has everything that the state intends to use against Oscar Pistorius but the state has nothing the defence intends to use. I expect the defence to make use of quite a few expert witnesses and will come up with a few unexpected surprises for the state.
ARTICLE ON WILLIAMS NURSERY SICKENING
THE article on the Williams baby enough to make me “vomit”. Disgusting people.
ROLAND Williams, really pathetic. Has he no shame? Not shy to boast about his wealth made up of our taxpayers’ money. What did he do to deserve this?
ROLAND Williams, your arrogance and lack of respect to those who keep you in power astounds me.
DISGUSTING of The Herald to feature the opulence of the Williams household, especially as it is our money that is paying for. You should be ashamed. This is not newsworthy.
ROLAND Williams, utterly disgusting the way you flaunt your child’s luxuries and opulence. So sad in view of the fact that PE has so many hungry children, and they probably never possessed a shop-bought toy. Sad. You and wife should feel ashamed.
NICE to be at the feeding trough, Roland, but be careful there are millions fighting for their turn. Enjoy it while it lasts. What a circus.
WISE WORDS FROM MAHOMED
WHAT wise words, Ismail Mahomed, “the struggle we fought as students is being betrayed by the current leadership”.
WELCOME BACK, TIGER MANGWENI
TIGER Mangweni, so glad to read in The Herald of March 4 that you putting your rugby boots on again for the Kings. The Kings need more rugby players like you. I’m so happy and glad to hear that Scott van Breda and Siviwe (Shakes) Soyizwapi are back temporally to play for the Kings. Hope you stay for good. Win your game tomorrow.

HOME AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT FRUSTRATIONS
DEAR Frustrated, I have been in South Africa for eight years and five months, and finally have my permanent residency so six years is nothing yet. Good luck though with Home Affairs.
I HAVE been trying for two days to get hold of Home Affairs. There is only one number and nobody answers. Can somebody please tell me if they are actually working or how do I make contact with them? I have been phoning (041) 4048300.
NOT ENOUGH BEDS AT HOSPITALS
THE Herald must check Livingstone Hospital casualty to see how patients who are supposed to be admitted lie on trolleys, some without mattresses and others sitting on a bench for 24 hours before they are admitted.
FLURRY OF POLITICAL RALLIES
HAVE you noticed the flurry of government department events recently? These are nothing but ANC rallies paid for by the taxpayer. Finance MEC Phumulo Masualle is having eight such rallies, all, with the exception of Grahamstown, in “township” areas. These venues have been chosen so that the electorate can be threatened with the wrath of their ancestors if they don’t vote ANC. Furthermore, the ANC government shows a complete disdain for other race groups.
REPLIES TO COMMENTS ON OTHER TOPICS
I DON’T understand why people are fussing over this issue of older woman dating younger men. Most old men leave their wives for younger women or date young women. Why do men think they got to have double standards and women can’t? Please stop judging woman and let them live their lives as they please. Most older woman probably don’t get the lives they deserve from their old husbands. Enough said.
ON Virginia Bussy’s letter, “Not able to buy electricity online”: same problem – I can’t purchase electricity via the internet. Can’t be assisted via the number provided either.
HAMILTON PETERSEN, UITENHAGE
GRIGOR Fraser, it’s exactly what I have been moaning and fighting about for years. Living very close to Trinder Square I also read that children can now play there – what a joke. First of all get rid of that pub. The patrons of the pub use the walls of the park for a toilet, and the new toilets in the park will be used by prostitutes and their clients – it’s only a matter of time. It happened before and will happen again.
TO all the critics of Graeme Smith as a cricketer and captain, I suggest you check the record books for facts before you make even bigger fools of yourselves.
LUVOYO Lonwabo Bayeni seems more concerned with the image of the school than the fate of the poor young girl who was raped and murdered.
ED Gutsche, you have hit the nail on the head in your request that our airport be named after Nelson Mandela! A leader and true statesman we all (black, white, pink, whatever) can identify with. This suggestion should be given very serious consideration by those who can implement it. It is one name change that I can wholeheartedly support.
ED Gutsche, good point regarding our airport. Good marketing is key. Like to hear a response from our mayor.
SERVICE DELIVERY FAILING
THE PE 10111 centre is another example of the ruling party failing to improve service delivery. It all comes down to enriching certain individuals, at the expense of others. Suddenly all the culprits have sold their shares in the responsible companies, after making millions of rands and now shift the blame to the new owners.

PROJECT ENABLED ME TO DRIVE
I AM a woman who is in a wheelchair. However today I have a driver’s licence thanks to the Coega Development project. I would also like to applaud the instructor, Sebenzile Mangcangaza, who is a very dedicated person, humble and very, very patient. I passed without any glitches because of him. He is so calming and never gets tired of explaining the same thing over and over until he is satisfied that you have it right. He never raises his voice nor is irritated by repeating things for you. He is one of a kind, he deserves an award for his dedication and his love for the disabled people he works with. Because of his love, dedication, caring, patience, smiles, humanity and ubuntu I have come this far. I thank you Sebenzile. Now I will be driving my own car sooner than I thought.
