Area near lake also an eyesore

WITH regard to the article by Thulani Gqirana on the state of the Kings Beach Park Lake and surrounding areas ("Showpiece lake turns into green, slimy pond", February 25), it is not surprising to read the MBDA's response to the state of the park. One look at the disgraceful area behind and to the side of Supertubes at Kings Beach (as shown in the picture supplied) indicates a severe lack of planning and maintenance.

How the MBDA can spearhead any project and simply allow surrounding areas to fall into disrepair is astonishing.

The municipality together with the MBDA's "operations unit" should be hand-on at all times and not redirecting blame.

However, given the municipality's track record to date, I am convinced this entire area will continue to deteriorate and remain an eyesore for some time to come.
