Keep trucks off road

YESTERDAY'S front page article "Officials dither as outcry grows over Addo road" refers.

The issues around the Addo road have been continuing for years.

The Eastern Cape government has become a source of empty promises.

One of the real issues is that trucks are using the R335 to bypass the Kinkelbos weigh bridge, particularly those transporting manganese.

The damage these trucks are causing is clearly evident near Paterson at Addo Afrique, near Middleton, where they struggle up steeper slopes and at the top of Grassridge.

These trucks are so overloaded they barely make it up Grassridge.

Every time I see these trucks on our road, I have contacted the traffic department in PE in the hope they will intervene.

Please protect what is left of the Addo Road. Stop these trucks at Paterson and direct them to the weigh bridge!

I also encourage every citizen in Addo to take responsibility for protecting this road.
