Why the DoE no-show?

IT is with concern that The Southern African Faith Communities' Environment Institute (SAFCEI) takes note of the Department of Energy's (DoE) failure to arrive in parliament last week for the national portfolio committee hearing on energy.
This appearance would have provided the DOE with a forum to account to parliament on issues relating to President Zuma's state of the nation Address.
Zuma said the government would operate in line with the department's Integrated Resource Plan for electricity 2010-2030 (IRP), but also that government expected to conclude the procurement of 9600Mw of nuclear energy.
