Safa must show PSL who's boss

LOTS has been said about Bafana Bafana's current performance. Our minister of sport should know better than to launch a scathing attack on the players in public.

Why did he not go into the change room and call them names there? Pathetic, sir. It also shows, Mr Minister of Sport, the very little you know about the circumstances around the selection and availability of players for this tournament.

Some PSL clubs refused to release their players. That's how much they think of Safa and representing their country.

The ones who played and were selected could not transform themselves into superstars.

Danny Jordaan, the first thing you should do is advise the PSL that it is subservient to Safa and the country comes first. Safa also should be stronger and stand up to the PSL owners who dictate policy to Safa.

Football should be run by administrators, not fat cat PSL owners who are only there to look after their own interests and the prima donnas they have signed to play for them. More than three years ago Safa advised all and sundry that the Caf playing calendar, that is February to November, would be used. Why have the PSL and Safa regions not embraced the Caf calendar yet?

They are clinging to the European calendar which is August to May. For goodness sake, we are part of Africa, not Europe.

Had we been using the Caf calendar then all PSL players would have been available. Orlando Pirates can be sympathised with for pulling out their players as they were involved in the Caf Champions League
