Return of bodies to SA wasteful

I'M not being callous, but I see very little point in bringing back the bodies of the victims of the Lagos building collapse, at huge expense. They are all dead, sadly, and there is nothing we can do for them.

Traditional burial rituals may demand this, but these were designed for African family members who died at home, not thousands of kilometres away in foreign countries. People didn't travel that far in those days.

A better solution would have been to bury the bodies in Lagos and raise a memorial naming them all here, in say Pretoria, and donating the money saved to medical research. The whole exercise is just a cynical attempt by the unpopular ruling party to curry favour with its supporters.
