Put Pat Lambie in flyhalf position

IT amazes me that we think there is a problem at flyhalf in the Bok team. The only problem we have is in a coach that leaves Pat Lambie on the bench and then uses him as the backup fullback.

On the outgoing tour to the UK last year Lambie established himself as the incumbent Springbok flyhalf. Morne Steyn was on the bench, where he was a bit lucky to be, after a very poor season.

Lambie was on top form as flyhalf for the Sharks at the start of Super Rugby before his injury and now he is relegated to stopgap fullback. This does not make any sense at all.

Handre Pollard still has a long way to go before he can claim the flyhalf berth for himself and needs to come off the bench for the next year or more to earn the right to be the run-on flyhalf. Heyneke Meyer has a fixation for Blue Bulls players.

If he has to use Steyn, than use him as the substitute fullback but Lambie deserves a start at flyhalf with Pollard on the bench.

As well as this Meyer needs to remove his head from the sand and allow the men on the field to play what is in front of them. "Skop and donder" is all he seems to think the game of rugby is about and it was very evident on Saturday that was his only game plan because even Jan Serfontein, in the centre, placed a high up-and-under for no apparent reason.

The only problem Bok rugby has is in the coach who is unable to move out of the past.
