Spending questioned

ACCORDING to the article "Police reservist resignations loom," Herald June 19), the powers that be are concerned about reservists who volunteer and sacrifice their free time and do not get a cent for it or even a thank you from them.

I have been a reservist since 1995 and I can speak, read, and write a docket or statement better than some permanent members. Concentrate on the permanent members who are illiterate and so overweight that they can hardly get into a vehicle, let alone get out and chase a suspect.

Take that money you want to spend on our "new uniform" and send some of the permanent members for writing lessons and buy them gym memberships, instead of making reservists resign.
