ANC divides while DA unites

ANC councillor Lawrence Troon's unqualified letter in the Herald ("Who will be new DA caucus leader?", February 10) refers.

The leadership capability of the ANC is best illustrated in the declining delivery and general state of collapse of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

Under President Jacob Zuma's leadership, the ANC has become corrupt and we are not making enough progress with regard to delivery in Nelson Mandela Bay or anywhere else in South Africa.

Zuma's ANC has endowed us with a mayoral merry-go-round that has turned our metro into a political circus with no moral compass and no leadership whatsoever.

The ANC's declining electoral performance in 2011 is indicative of voters who are dissatisfied with its leadership and its inability to deliver.

While the ANC and its cadres, such as Troon, seek to divide our country along racial, cultural and ethnic lines, the DA will continue to unite South Africans across these same lines.

The DA is by far the most diverse political party in South Africa. The DA celebrates the best track record of delivery in the Western Cape out of all nine provinces because we select diverse and qualified leaders that are fit for purpose.

Helen Zille, Patricia de Lille, Mmusi Maimane and Nosimo Balindlela are just some of our outstanding leaders that will continue to lead the DA into national government.

The future of the DA's continued success in government and at every election will always be determined by the quality of its leaders, not the colour of their skin.
