LOCAL player Toni Marks has been selected to represent South Africa at the hockey Junior World Cup in Germany. The local hockey fraternity should be proud of the player, her club and coaches.

To represent your country at any level is an awesome achievement. Our youth need role models like this girl to inspire them to achieve and to steer clear of the evils that lurk all around us.

Let’s hope and pray that she does well and progresses to full international status at a later stage. The way to success is hard work, blood sweat and tears. There is no shortcuts.

We wish Toni well in Germany and hope lots more local players will aspire to follow in her footsteps.
