Were cops paid for Ironman?

AS usual the Ironman was a fantastic event. Port Elizabeth can be proud, especially the organisers.

Do the event organisers pay the traffic police to be there, are they also paid double for it being a Sunday? The police were out in full force, but doing nothing, just walking around trying to look important, riding their motorbikes and cars up and down the course.

Even the horse patrol was there – hope they picked up the poo on the runners’ track.

That evening the traffic was crawling from the Boardwalk up Second Avenue to the robots. Two police vehicles were there, but the officers were not directing the traffic.

They were sitting in their vehicles, then there were three more at the La Roche Drive intersection. Why were they not directing the traffic, but that is work…
