THE letter from Brenda Matthee with the picture of Forest Hill cemetery (“Overgrown city cemetery dishonours loved ones”, May 8) has prompted me to send you these pictures taken recently at our cemetery in Fort Beaufort, which is a total disgrace.
The waste manager at Nkonkobe Municipality is responsible for grass-cutting in town and I have made a couple of phone calls to her, all to no avail. There is always some excuse.
Not even the cows go there to graze anymore, they might get lost!
The local residents who have family and friends buried in the cemetery are upset and ashamed of the state of the grounds, but all efforts to get the grass cut fall on deaf ears.
