Oprah tweet earns R204m

A TWEET by Oprah Winfrey, in which she claims to have lost almost 12kg by following a Weight Watchers healthy-eating programme, saw the diet company’s US share price skyrocket by 20%.

Before the 66-character tweet, which included the hashtag #ComeJoinMe and a link to the Weight Watchers website, was posted on Tuesday afternoon, the company’s stock was trading at $11.35 (R185.67) a share.
