GARY Glitter, the paedophile glam rock singer, has been jailed for 16 years for a string of sex attacks on three schoolgirls in the 1970s.
Glitter, 70, described as a “habitual sexual predator”, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after being found guilty of having sex with a girl under 13. He was also convicted of one count of attempted rape and four counts of indecent assault after a trial in which he firmly denied the allegations.
The judge told Glitter – tried under his real name Paul Gadd – he had caused “real and lasting damage” to his victims. The charity Victim Support said the jail term “is testament to the courage Glitter’s victims showed in … bravely confronting this serial paedophile in court”.
