Man admits to starting bus fire

A Chinese court says a man has admitted deliberately starting a bus fire that injured himself and 32 other people and says it was an expression of revenge on society.

The Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court in east China said that Bao Laixu pleaded guilty to arson at a hearing Wednesday.

The court's online statement says Bao set fire to the bus last July to get back on society and that he wanted to end his own life because he had suffered a relapse of tuberculosis.

A photo carried by China News Service showed a hospital bed in the middle of the court flanked by two security guards. It said Bao was lying down because his ankles had been amputated and his body had 95 percent burns.
