Multimillion-rand Gelvandale centre opens

AFTER a decade of struggle, the Northern Areas Football Association Sports Trust has completed its showpiece building in Gelvandale. And, already planning ahead, funds raised from renting it out will go back into soccer.
The building – which was affected by stop-start construction, theft, vandalism and a lack of funding – hosted its second event, a concert, last weekend.
The centre’s features include a bar, an “Alabama-style dance floor”, and a new stage.
An application has been made for a licence for the bar. - Amir Chetty
