Schroeder’s wife pieced together ‘scam’ after he went missing

IT WAS only after her husband’s disappearance that a Jeffreys Bay woman started putting the pieces together to uncover how a German couple tried to defraud them through the sale of their farm.

Tanja Schroeder said it was one carefully constructed lie after another that led her and her husband to enter into the multimillion-rand sale agreement with Jens Leunberg, 36, and Kristina Adler, 38.

When it all came to a head and Schroeder’s husband, Claus, went to confront the pair about money owed, he never returned home.

To date, no one knows what really happened to him. The state alleges he was murdered. -Kathryn Kimberley
