VIDEO: Baakens River flooding

A TRIPLE whammy of snow, flooding and load-shedding hit the Eastern Cape this weekend and hundreds of residents from informal settlements in Nelson Mandela Bay have been evacuated.

Rain and the cold are here until Sunday, SA Weather Services Port Elizabeth spokesman Garth Sampson said.

Today, Eskom went to Stage 2 load-shedding and according to Sampson, heavy rain falling on “supersaturated” ground in the extreme east could cause flooding which would continue to Monday.
