A 28- year-old Johannesburg woman was arrested when her flight landed at the Cape Town International Airport this morning (21/07/15) after police found R1.4-million worth of tik in her luggage.

According to police, the woman – who authorities are only naming after appearing in court – was on a flight from O.R. Tambo International Airport to Cape Town.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said that while searching the suitcase, various packages wrapped in a baby fleece blanket were found by the police’s anti-drug smuggling team.

“Upon opening these packages they found it to be tik . Approximately 5kg of tik with an estimated street value of R1.4-million was seized,” he said.

The woman is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
