Four top municipal managers targeted as council begins crackdown on misconduct
We are not going to allow corrupt officials to loot the funds intended for development – MAYOR DANNY JORDAAN
THE heads of four Nelson Mandela Bay officials are on the chopping block as the metro yesterday began its crackdown on managers who have in recent years faced one allegation of misconduct after another.
Bus system boss Mhleli Tshamase and senior finance official Nadia Gerwel were slapped yesterday morning with notices of intent to suspend them.
By law, they are given seven days to explain why they should not stay home while the city prepares to haul them before a disciplinary hearing.
Later in the day, a full council decided to begin a complex disciplinary process against corporate services boss Mod Ndoyana and his human settlements counterpart, Lindile Petuna.
