Retirement home residents slam lack of security after assault on woman, 89
AN urgent meeting has been called for today at a Port Elizabeth retirement home following a vicious attack on an 89-year-old woman.
The elderly residents said yesterday they feared for their lives because of the lack of security.
Frail pensioner Rachel Marais was attacked in broad daylight on Sunday in her room at the Adcock retirement home in Schauderville, which is part of the Stuurman Adcock Allan Hendrickse Bethelsdorp (SAAB) group of homes for the aged.
She was so badly beaten that police have opened an attempted murder docket.
