Leaders claiming to represent majority of metro branches want task team disbanded
DIVISIONS in the ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay were laid bare yesterday when branch leaders claiming to represent 48 branches in the metro accused the President Jacob Zuma-appointed task team of dividing the region.
They called for the Eastern Cape provincial executive committee (PEC) to take over the running of the party’s affairs, saying the region could not afford to go into next year’s local government elections divided.
At a media briefing at the Motherwell NU30 Community Hall, mayor Ben Fihla’s former bodyguard and Ward 36 branch chairman, Mlindi Mangwane, said the branches had lost confidence in the regional task team (RTT).
