‘Tough guys’ prove knights on iron steeds for young cancer patient

WITH an insignia that depicts Death riding on a motorcycle and a fondness for skulls, Uitenhage motorbike club the Lone Reapers seem an unlikely protector for a tiny four-year-old battling cancer.

But the club started a campaign to help Dora Nginza Hospital patient Zimarie Engelbrecht, who was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year, before even meeting the girl, who desperately needs travel funds.

Zimarie undergoes five days of chemotherapy a week and the family must travel from her home in Uitenhage to Dora Nginza on each occasion.

Her mom, Sumarie Henn, said yesterday that Zimarie was doing much better after she was admitted to hospital two weeks ago following a viral infection.
