SEVEN brave boys were yesterday rewarded for the role they played in saving dogs that were set alight after having been thrown into a drain.

Lindan van Rooyen, 15, Nathan Ross, 15, John Ross, 13, Kayleb Erasmus, 9, Waivern Mapoe, 15, Laurent Redlinghuis, 16, and Kirsten Geswindt, 14, all received trophies for their bravery from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL).

Sadly, six of the eight dogs died from their injuries, inflicted at a park in Arcadia about two weeks ago.

Two were saved and have been placed in permanent homes.

After hearing the dogs’ cries, the seven boys went to see what was happening and discovered the dogs being tortured in the drain.
