Traffic fines ‘lost’ as server crashes

MOTORISTS in Nelson Mandela Bay who have outstanding traffic fines are temporarily off the hook – thanks to load-shedding, which caused the city’s traffic server to crash about three weeks ago.

The municipality is waiting for a specialist from Johannesburg to fix the server.

In the meantime, it cannot even access its backup data with details of all the money owed to the city.

This was revealed at a municipal public accounts committee (MPAC) meeting yesterday, when officials failed to provide a list of the names of councillors with outstanding traffic fines.

Is there absolutely nothing that our joke of a traffic department can do right?
