Nigerian church disaster victim Nkosana Clifford Mzinyati was buried in Uitenhage at the weekend.
Relief washed over the family during the funeral of the Uitenhage man who lost his life in Lagos when a guesthouse building belonging to charismatic televangelist T B Joshua collapsed in September, killing 81 South Africans.
Mzinyati, who worked as a firefighter for Transnet, was buried at the Matanzima Cemetery in KwaNobuhle, where family, friends, colleagues and Emmanuel TV partners paid their last respects.
Emmanuel TV, a religious channel, is the brainchild of Joshua.
Eastern Cape Social Development MEC Nancy Sihlwayi also attended the funeral service held at Thanduxolo High School, where Mzinyati completed matric.
Mzinyati’s oldest brother, Makhi, said in KwaNobuhle on Saturday: “We had given up all hope of ever burying him because everything went quiet in December.
“We are relieved we have managed to bury him.”
