A woman living in the house in which the bodies of four frozen babies, a foetus and three placentas were found in two freezers was arrested yesterday.
The woman, 29, handed herself over at the Ngangelizwe police station in Mthatha yesterday morning, accompanied by her mother and two family members.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of murder relating to the find, police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said.
“We interrogated her for about two hours and were not satisfied with the answers she gave, so we arrested and charged her.
“The charges are murder. The postmortem examination results tell us that murders were committed,” Fatyela said at the New Brighton house in Mthatha where the grim discovery was made.
