Hack an alien, not your ex on Valentine’s Day

Those who want to vent their anger at an ex-partner can do so in a constructive way this Valentine’s Day.

The Valentine’s Day Alien Hack, brainchild of the Baakens Valley Preservation Trust, takes place on Saturday – with organisers inviting “jilted lovers to put on some gloves, grab a saw or an axe, and cut a tree down in honour of an ex”.

Cornelia Garner, of the trust, said: “We need help removing invasive alien plants and trees in and around the valley and making it a safer place while saving indigenous vegetation.”

Garner said the acacia saligna, commonly known as the Port Jackson willow, had taken over the area.
