Motorsport show ‘will inject R170m’

An economic boost of almost R170million is being projected for the highly anticipated Mzansi International Motorsport Show in Nelson Mandela Bay later this year.

Almost 100 of the Eastern Cape’s top officials and business figures – including Economic Development and Tourism MEC Sakhumzi Somyo, Bay mayor Ben Fihla, his deputy Chippa Ngcolomba and NMB Business Chamber chief executive Kevin Hustler – were at the Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth yesterday for the official launch of the event, where the finer details were announced.

It runs from December 10 to 13 and is seen as a huge economic and tourism boost for the metro.

The event’s chief strategist, Pule Mohibidu, said it was the first of its kind in Africa and was aimed at benefiting the people of the Eastern Cape, where change was needed.
