Bay cops arrest two alleged members of hijacking and theft ring in Gauteng.

A national car theft and hijacking ring has been bust by Nelson Mandela Bay police following the arrest of two alleged key members at their Gauteng hideouts. The arrests by a specialist task team have been described as a major breakthrough on a national level.

The sophisticated syndicate is believed to have splinter groups across the country who steal specific vehicles to order, with the suspects falsely posing as Volkswagen SA employees.

The breakthrough comes only two weeks after a Gauteng man – who claimed to be a car buyer – was arrested leaving Port Elizabeth in a stolen VW Golf 7 that had false number plates and registration documents.
