TWO people were killed and eight injured after a car allegedly jumped a red light and smashed into two other vehicles on the Uitenhage Road at the weekend.
The crash occurred at the bottom of the Chatty Dip, at the intersection of the Perseverance and Uitenhage roads shortly after 8pm on Saturday, police spokesman Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said.
“A Toyota Corolla was coming down Uitenhage Road, in the direction of Port Elizabeth.
“According to reports, the Corolla had right of way to turn right in the direction of Bethelsdorp. A Renault Clio, coming from the opposite direction, allegedly jumped the red traffic light and hit the Corolla on the side,” Gwavu said.
