Warning to pet owners as dogs stolen for use in fights

KING William’s Town dog owners are on high alert after the city’s SPCA chairwoman Annette Rademeyer issued a Facebook warning that a dog-snatching gang is targeting their pets.

Rademeyer said residents should be on the lookout for a white diesel bakkie and a black car which were using a bitch on heat to entice male dogs and whisk them away.

She said about 15 dogs had been reported missing to the SPCA over the past two months.

“A woman I know well came to the SPCA in a state because her dog had almost fallen victim to the syndicate on Monday night,” Rademeyer said.
