Bay freeway gets new eco-friendly lighting

ONE of Nelson Mandela Bay’s busiest stretches of road is undergoing a R1million eco-friendly lighting revamp.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality received a R10-million grant for this financial year from the Energy Department as part of its renewable energy programme, municipal communications director Roland Williams said yesterday.

Fourteen high-mast lights with four 200 watt LED bulbs each have been installed from the Kempston Road off-ramp up to the end of the freeway in Port Elizabeth’s North End.
