A NIGERIAN woman yesterday experienced why the Bay is known as the Friendly City after having her laptop, which contained her “life”, returned to her by a Summerstrand taxi driver.
Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University biochemistry PhD student Janet Adefuye went into a total panic after leaving her handbag and backpack with her laptop, external hard drive, car keys, house keys, purse and all of her two years’ worth of lab research in a taxi on Tuesday.
Thankfully, kindhearted Lwandile Titi strolled into Kids on the Way Pre-School – where he had earlier dropped off Adefuye – yesterday morning with both bags in hand, much to the delight of the mother of two.
“I have only been in the city for two years. I came here with my children, John and Odeooa, to study. I am overwhelmed with joy that people like him are still out there,” the Summerstrand resident said.
Titi said he did not feel he had done anything special. He simply “was doing what my mother taught me”.
“I saw Janet was in a hurry to get to her children at the school after shopping in town. She unfortunately forgot her bags in the taxi. On my way back to town, I saw the bags.” – Tremaine van Aardt
