Full steam ahead for mall

BAYWEST developers want to create a station for the Apple Express train within the Baywest City precinct, in order for shoppers, tourists and employees working at the Baywest Mall to commute to and from the “city within a city”.

Baywest Mall managing director Gavin Blows said the company wanted rail to be a part of its 2020 long-term vision of the 320ha Baywest City development, and that it supported efforts to again make the tourist train commercially viable.

“We want to try to incorporate the Apple Express into the development,” Blows said at a stakeholders’ meeting with the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber on Wednesday evening.
