Crisis calls dropped as 10111 staff go on strike

FIVE operators who man the 10111 call-centre phone lines in Port Elizabeth have been on strike since February and have been charged internally for offences ranging from leaving phones off the hook to hanging up on callers.

The five operators initially went on strike after demanding a salary increase, which saw their pay bumped up to about R9 500 a month in February.

With that issue resolved, they found other reasons, including transport problems, to continue the strike.
