Griekwastad murders: boy found guilty

The 17-year-old boy accused of the Griekwastad triple farm murder was found guilty on all five charges in the Northern Cape High Court on Thursday (27/03/14).

Northern Cape Judge President Frans Kgomo found the boy guilty of gunning down Deon Steenkamp, 44, his wife Christelle, 43, and daughter Marthella, 14. He also found the boy guilty of raping Marthella and defeating the ends of justice.

Kgomo said on Thursday that the teenager murdered Deon and Christelle to conceal Marthella’s rape.

The teenager shot and killed the Steenkamp family on their Naauwhoek farm near Griekwastad on the evening of Good Friday, April 6 2012.
