A HUNGRY little girl, desperate for something to eat, was brutalised and murdered after she asked a neighbour for a slice of bread.
The horrific details of the savage murder and defilement of five-year-old Catherine Jooste’s body on December 21 emerged in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday when Dawid Booysen, 38, pleaded guilty to her murder, but not to raping her.
Booysen, of Uitenhage, who had been released from prison just five months earlier after serving time for housebreaking, was subsequently convicted of attempted rape and murder.
