FILMING and video-editing have always been his passion and he knew when he left high school that was where his career was heading.

Luphelo Zazini, 30, who lives in NU7, studied film production and editing at Big Fish Tele film school.

After his studies, he started filming for big and small events.

His big break came when he made the movie Ekoneni.

"My first movie came out in 2003.

"It focused on crime in Motherwell, and was shot at the time when the crime rate there was high.

"I also manage and promote a few local artists.

"I shoot and edit music videos and film any type of events, whether big or small," Zazini said.

One of his recent assignments was shootingt a conference of a political party.

Zazini said another highlight of his filming career came when he had to film Hugh Masekela when he was in Port Elizabeth.

"It is always great travelling around doing shoots, but one of the biggest problems that I always come across is funding, especially here in Motherwell.

"People in our community do not support local art," Zazini said. He is planning to move to Cape Town soon because of the support he has been getting there.

"Since I started in the film industry I have been getting funding and support from the Municipality of Cape Town.

"I see a lot of opportunities there, more than here in Port Elizabeth, so that is why it is easy for me to move.

"I am also taking all my artists to Cape Town.

"I am hoping this is going to bring change in my career, because I have also done a few movies like Ekoneni 2.

" I am working on Run Nana Run, Kasi Revelation, and Ingqondo the Brain," said Zazini.

He is also working on a proposal that includes running a TV channel on Top TV that will be named Big Face TV.

"I want to leave a mark on the film industry – I want to be known and be able to help those who want to make it.

"I am planning on doing a lot of things in the industry as soon as I get proper funding and earn a lot of coverage and recognition," Zazini said.
