Callies still in top form

CALLIES maintained their unbeaten record in the Safa-NMB SAB League on Sunday when they beat Central Acemates 2-1 in a Pefa derby at the Victoria Park field.


A header by John Giannakis saw the Londt Park outfit leading 1-0 at the break.


Early in the second half, Dili Gubuza put Acemates on level terms. Another header by Giannakis sealed the game for Callies.


In their next match, Callies play Fairview Rovers. Fairview Rovers beat Camper United 3-1 at the Finnis Street field after leading 1-0 at the break.


In other SAB league matches played over the weekend, Subs continued from where they left off last week when they beat Highland Spurs 2-0 at the NU2 Stadium in Motherwell.


Last week, they thrashed pre-season favourites Lion City 4-0 while Spurs beat Tomorrow Stars 2-0.


City bounced back from the shock defeat to beat Motherwell Academy 3-0 after leading 2-0 at the break.


Walmer outfit Peace United registered their second 1-1 draw when they came from a goal down at the break to share the points with Sunrise Development. Mzwandile Ngqishi scored for United.


Hotspurs played their second goalless draw when they shared the points with Despatch Pioneers.
